Jail Release

If you know where your friend or loved one is being held, we can work with you to help expedite their release, looking at bail bond, if any, and the amount of bond.

Bail bonds

Bail bonds are set by a judge during the informal arraignment following your arrest. The judge will consider a number of factors, including the severity of the crime and the weight of the evidence.

Bail may be denied is the crime is serious. If lesser charges are brought, the judge will set bail and you will be free, agreeing to return to court. You may be set free on your own recognizance.

There are different ways to fund bonds, including:

  • Cash bonds: funding bail with cash or a cashier's check, which remains deposited until your case is over
  • Personal bonds: must be approved by the Travis County Pre-Trial Services Office during normal business hours
  • Lawyer assisted hobby bonds: the easiest way to be released after a DWI arrest in Travis County, Texas
  • Lawyer assisted bonds: Useful for expediting your release, especially if you do not qualify for personal bonds
  • Surety or bail bonds: Underwritten by a professional bail bond company

Types of Warrants

Warrants present very different legal challenges. If a warrant has been placed for your arrest, that is called an arrest warrant. If you have been summoned to court and ignore the order, a judge may find you in contempt of court and issue a bench warrant. If law enforcement pulls you over in a routine traffic stop, you may be arrested as a result.

Search warrants are issued by a judge after probable cause is established.

Please contact an attorney at Patricia L. Brown & Associates, P.C. for accomplished counsel if you have been charged with assault, drug charges or domestic violence.

Our attorneys can also help with jail release issues such as probation, community service and house arrest.
